Letters of Recommendation
December 7, 2009 ~ Letter to the Management Silvergate San Marcos
I tried to stop by last week while I was in town to thank you in person, but our schedules didn't mesh. I just wanted to thank you and the whole staff at Silvergate for the wonderful home you provided for the last stop of Marijane Ayars on her journey through life with us. Although senior care is never easy by its very nature, Silvergate was the ideal place for Marijane, and she enjoyed it there very much.
I am aware that such things do not happen by accident, and that most other senior living facilities do not achieve the measure of mission success that you enjoy. You, personally, should be very proud of what you have achieved and of the service that you provide so well to so many.
Sincerely, Andy Franks (Grandson of Silvergate Resident)
July 31, 2009 ~ Letter to the Director of Resident Care for Silvergate Suites
I've sent complementary letters about your employees in the past because having worked in the private sector myself, having some sixty-five volunteers under my wing to keep happy and perform an import job without a paycheck; I know first hand its benefit when someone pays a compliment about a person's work.
I have been struck by the kindness shown by Naomi to each and every resident in Roma's suite, as well as her eagerness to help me when I visit. Silvergate should be very proud of her work ethic.
I also would like to mention several other of your team; Lena is always ready with a helping hand! Jackie - when I send an email she is immediately back setting up a van pick-up or a dental appointment for Roma. Fo keeps her eye out for Express Scripts invoices. She knows I need them because the medication is charged to my credit card.
Last but not least, Dennis you too have been a Godsend when I have some complicated situation that needs to be solved. I must say, you have been 'Johnnie on the Spot' to help in every way. I truly appreciate that!
I'm sure after I send this letter off I'll think of another person that should have been included, but this is my current thinking. I thank you and your staff for the attention they provide to Roma day in and day out during this chapter in her life.
Sincerely, Delores Lukina (Trustee of Silvergate Resident)
October 21, 2008 ~ Letter to the Management Silvergate Fallbrook
I have been deeply impressed by Dorothy who leads by example. I have noticed in my days here that no task is beneath this leader of your team. She is everywhere. She is the reason I believe I am in very, very capable hands.
Brandie is the face and heart and soul of Silvergate. She markets the residence to those of us who are leaving our homes of many years behind, and she does it with empathy. Brandie is certain of her product she is selling that her confidence assures. And Silvergate delivers on her promises.
The kitchen's efforts are superior. I cannot say enough about the sumptuous and varied daily choices that our residence presents. The friendly wait-staff who greet you by name cannot do enough to please.
Jeanne is our energetic, caring and supremely skilled nurse. Professional but yet emotionally involved enough with her patients.
We have Diana to thank for the smooth way our days run into days here. The luxury of having our housekeeping needs taken care of when our bodies don't move in the way we remembered. When their joy at assisting us in small and large ways come though to us, it is like having FAMILY close at hand.
Those are my thoughts, and necessary for me to finally admit that I am settling in to this new phase of my life, and that Brandie's promises have borne fruit in my heart and especially in my soul. I have been on a journey these eighty-four years and I believe I've given my best and have expected nothing but the best for myself. I've arrived! Thank you Silvergate Fallbrook for assembling this team of caregivers who are so deep in experience and professionalism and for this beautifully appointed residence.
Most Sincerely, Audrey S. (Silvergate Resident)
November 8, 2008 ~ Letter to the Administrator for Silvergate San Marcos
Our family would like to take this time to thank you for the many things that were done with and for our Dad Earl during his three years at Silvergate. When he made the choice to move to Silvergate, we were pleased because we had been concerned about his lack of activities, poor eating habits, and socialization. All of these improved at Silvergate.
Some of the many things he enjoyed were: The meals prepared by his favorite Chef (Joseph) and his chats with him, reading the daily newspaper in the library, playing Bingo with lovely Liz (we have quite a little stash of his winnings for his great-grand daughters to sort and roll), sitting in 'HIS' special seat for the bus rides with your incredible driver Jose, doing craft projects, meeting for the Therapy Group talks, participating in many activities, dances, parties, and the field trips arranged by your most-caring Lorraine, having his apartment cleaned and linens changed by your efficient house-keeping staff, and the care given when needed by Dennis and the nursing/caretaker staff. There are many others who make Silvergate 'Work' and all of these pieces gave Dad pleasure and comfort. Additionally, it gave us comfort to know that he was in secure, safe, and comfortable surroundings.
At the wonderful age of 97, (he would have been 98 in January) dad was noticeably slowing down the last month or so, however, he continued, with more effort, to go out to lunch, run errands, go to doctor appointments, play Bingo with his friends and family, get dressed each day and participate in various activities. As his doctor said, 'He's breaking and we're just trying to hold him together' and we did so as long as we could. Fortunately, when his time came it was quite quick and he slipped away peacefully. He truly was a wonderful man, friend, husband, father, step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and uncle. There is a void in our lives, but he lived life to the fullest.
Sincerely, Karen Ludlow and Carol Winter (Daughters of Silvergate Resident)
